DR NICK FIDDES - TARTAN - SCOTLAND'S GIFT TO THE WORLD
Dr Nick Fiddes has been an enthusiastic champion of tartans and plaids since 1995 when he founded CLAN by Scotweb (clan.com) Scotland’s first and largest online heritage retailer. In 2011 he rescued from closure Scotland’s leading specialist tartan mill, DC Dalgliesh (dcdalgliesh.co.uk) producer of the widest tartan range on earth, with clients including royalty, celebrities and blue chip corporates since 1946. Together CLAN and DCD offer by far the world’s largest range of tartan fabrics and products, including a professional quality do-it-yourself design feature. Nick was a founder member of the Steering Group for the Scottish Tartan Register, and previously served as a governor of the Scottish Tartans Authority. Whilst a lover of ancient tradition, Nick believes tartan is Scotland’s gift to the world as a symbol beautifully uniting communities that should continue to develop and be accessible to everyone.
PAULA DUNCAN - KILTMAKING AS A HERITAGE CRAFT
Paula Duncan is the owner of Paula Duncan Bespoke Kilt Making. She is a master kilt maker living in on the Moray Coast.
Paula says that making kilts has really touched her heart, especially given that kilts are a Scottish emblem known worldwide. She has been teaching this heritage craft for 10 years and is passionate about keeping the tradition of heritage kiltmaking alive as it is currently on the endangered craft list.
CAROL JACKSON - GIN: SCOTLAND'S NEWEST FAVOURITE DRINK
Carol Jackson is the founder of ELJ Drinks Ltd who produce Ellis Gin - the amazing range of naturally coloured and beautifully flavoured gins – distilled in Glasgow. The aim is to bring fun and colour to the gin market. The range includes gins that change colour and a Pink gin which has a mesmerising shimmer.
CHEF GARY MACLEAN - SCOTLAND'S LARDER
Born in Glasgow, multi-award winning chef and educator Gary has been at the heart of the Scottish hospitality industry for 35 years, he is Scotland’s National Chef and BBC MasterChef the Professionals winner, food ambassador, presenter and author. He is Executive chef of the City of Glasgow College, and helps promote Scottish food and food education around the world.
